“You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start you will…” Stephen King
There are many things I love about myself and there are many things I do not. As inspiring as Stephen King (as one of my favourite authors) and his advice is, this blog post has taken me almost eight years to start. A mixture of crippling fear and social anxiety had my creativity and I stuck in a gridlock, until one very average morning in my tiny studio flat, I woke up and decided today was going to be the day!
Thinking back, I am not entirely sure what inspired my decision as i watched my reflection brush her teeth in my bathroom mirror. Maybe it was because I was finally doing well in a job I loved, or that me and my boyfriend of nine years had finally found the much needed time to reconnect- who knows? I am just damn glad that I did.
I feel like now is as good a time as any to introduce myself. My name is Jodie Smith (original surname I know) and I am a 24-year old, slightly hyperactive and clumsy marketer living in the strange and wonderful city of Bristol. I love a lot of things, and hate only a few, including Peas (especially when mushed), Gin (YES i said Gin), and boredom. I do not have a lot of friends and I never have done; however, I would say that I have a handful of people who I know I will be friends with for the rest of my life.
Due to my ‘beginner’ status as a blogger, I am niche free – hooray! The mere thought of writing about only one subject fills me with misery; therefore, I am going to be greedy. I want to write about everything from tips and tricks on how to successfully survive a year without your bestie (who is currently sunning herself down under), to fashion, beauty, books, the world of marketing, and the rather clumsy but happy life that i happen to live. I might even write about some of those riskier though sometimes cringeworthy topics that can send some bloggers running for the hills. Watch this space.
So what is my mission? Well, to hopefully inspire people to be a little more brave and a little more bold, whether that be in life or through the magical world of words. The mission is to Be Bold and Blog… finally!
